Mason's First Buckle

Mason has been a cowboy since he could walk! He loves anything to do with horses, cows, dogs I could go on and on ;)

In the past Mason has wanted to mutton bust but he usually ends up crying before or after. He would frequently change is mind and not ride at all. Well this summer we saw Lighting Ranch in Pipe Creek was having a summer buckle series and had to check it out. We went to the first rodeo. Mason was the only mutton buster so he won 1st and got his money back.

For the rest of the summer Mason made it to EVERY rodeo. When Ira and I went on vacation Mimi and Paw paw made sure he made it there. All of his grandparents and Aunt Becca got to go several times to watch and support! Thanks guys. Mimi made it to every one! She get the rodeo Mimi of the year award!

Mason got more confident and was more excited each time. Now he really loves it! We are hitting the mutton busting road ;) Seriously we have two in September.

He did go on to win two other rodeos during the series. Mason's hard work and persistence is what helped him win the buckle. We are SO proud of him. I did not win my first buckle until I was 10 so he is way ahead of mama. I look foreword to the many more years of spending time doing what he and our family loves.

Rookie Mistakes

It might have been helpful to put some pictures of his first day of kindergarten. So here you go ;)

 PS- sad baby brother

My First Born, My First Post

I have been looking for the perfect occasion to write my first post. I was saving it for right moment. Well here it is.

So today was the day. First born Mason Alan Smoot went to kindergarten. I have so may emotions! Happy for him to go and that he is excited! SO SO sad that my baby is growing up so fast. I cried and cried! He walked up sat down and acted like he had been going to kindergarten for years.

Ira and I were talking the other day and he starts talking about the day we brought him home from the hospital. I said is that suppose to make me feel better as tears stream down my face.

Mason is such a joy! He is a very loving and tender boy. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. He is biggest cowboy you have ever met. He loves being outside, animals, boots, pants and long sleeve shirts. He is excited to go to school. He is in the dual language program. So his first year of school will be in 90% Spanish. I know he will do great! He told Me this morning that I don't need to walk him to class tomorrow. We will see ;)

Pictures for each year of life.

My sweet snugly baby Jatin Graham Smoot started school three days a week. He did not fare as well as Mason. He cried and cried. Made me cry and cry. He will be fine. He has been going to his school for a while now just not with out Mason.

We around the Smoot household are in the time of transitions. Stay tuned for more to come.
